The Terminal
It's time to leave OZ and go back to TLOTW. I had a great trip, the weather was excellent and it was so especially good to see all my friends again. One thing I miss about TLOTW while I was here was it's size, or rather lack of it. Back home, it might take, 2 hours to go from one end to another. But here in OZ, it took me 2 hours just to get from my friend's place into town! And this is how so many people travel to work everyday, hours and hours in the trains. I'm never going to complain about that again. Which explains why I ended up at the airport 3 1/2 hours before my flight. The city rail is not always reliable and I really didn't want to miss my flight just because the train got delayed. So I boarded the train at 4pm for a 9.30pm flight. It took me two hours to reach the airport which left me heaps of time still. Which is why I'm now standing behind a Coke machine typing out this post on one of the free internet access terminals.
One thing about TLOTW, the airport sure has lots of things to do. Even if you were stranded there for hours, there are movies to watch, heck, you could even get a massage and go for a swim. The Sydney airport is a little more modest, just a couple of shops and small cafes which is why I'm going insane! There is only so much I can read and walk around so I'm just hoping that time will pass QUICKLY.
My flight from TLOTW to Sydney was rather uneventful. I had a window seat and lucky for me, no one sat next to me. Being the cheap skate that I am, I had booked tickets on well, a modest airline. The seats were nothing to shout about and neither was the food. But the crew was polite and the aircraft was clean so I can't complain. Only problem was the seats were very close together which didn't leave one a lot of leg room. Despite being vertiaclly challanged, I still found it quite uncomfortable and I can only imagine how the tall Aussie bloke behind me must have felt. Which is why I didn't turn round and scream at him each time he kicked the back of my seat. We were suppose to land at 8.30pm that night but the airport was really crowded with lots of flights coming in. As a result, we had to wait so we circled in the air for over an hour. That was NOT fun. By the time I got out it must have been past 10pm.
20 more mins before I get to board, all I ask for is for my flight to land on time and for all the kids on board to remain relatively quiet for the next 8 and a half hours. Fat Chance.
