I was persuaded to go across the causeway for the weekend. Knowing that every other family in TLOTW would be having the same idea, I prepared myself for the worse. Surprisingly, we were only stuck in traffic for about an hour and a half. It was at the hotel that I was truly ashamed to be from TLOTW.
Check in time is officially at 3pm. By the time we reached the hotel, it was half past 3. There was a long queue of people at the counter so we joined the back of the queue. In about 10 minutes, a fellow citizen from TLOTW started to complain about the slow service. Apparently it was costing his family precious shopping time. I must admit the service was a little slow, but there was no reason to make a scene right in the middle of the hotel lobby. So the manager came out to try to pacify the bloke who by now, was really working it. I think he expected a free room or something, just because he had to wait in line for 20 mins like the rest of us.
Day 2: There was a buffet breakfast which started at 6am. We woke up early and headed down to breakfast about 7.30am to avoid crowd later. In the cafe, citizens of TLOTW stuck out like a sore thumb. From their dressing to their behaviour. While other people just graciously accepted what was given, they had to question everything. What's this? Why isn't there any bacon? Where is my coffee? My cup is dirty, ( it had a non-existent speck)...blah blah blah. I felt sorry for the other people trying to enjoy their breakfast.
Despite these 2 incidents, it was a rather enjoyable weekend. I did a bit of shopping, ate fantastic local food and chilled out. Oh, my ringworm has not clear up and I just heard that sometimes it takes 3 months for the scars to go away.
