Life, how I view it, how unpredictable it is and how it can end up kicking you right in the ass.

Beneath All The Glits And Glamour

On Sunday night, my fiance and I had to attend a gala dinner for his company. It was suppose to be THE event of the year, with lots of well-known people attending. My conclusion on the night? A gala dinner is a place where 1) people take 3 hours to prepare for and end up sitting in a room so dark that they could have attended naked and no one would have notice 2) ladies compete to see who can wear the most number of shiny rocks 3) in reference to no. 2, ladies compete with each other to see who has the biggest and most shiny rock 4) men take out the one suit that they own which they have worn to funerals, weddings and dinners 5) ladies who can afford all the big rocks sit together and compared plastic surgery stories.

You can tell I didn't really enjoy myself last night. Firstly, I don't fit into any of the categories above. Secondly, though I like dressing up, I don't really give a damn that the lady next to me is wearing a gown that cost enough to buy a small apartment. And lastly, my fiance and I are at least 10 years younger than everyone else. Thank goodness for the free flow of wine, after about 2 hours, everyone was behaving our age( more or less).
